Performance Assessments



PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS are skills checklists that allow instructors to assess learners live as they demonstrate competency. Unlike a written test, performance assessments are meant to check off specific tasks as a learner performs them in front of an instructor.

Creating a Performance Assessment

To create a performance assessment, navigate to the Performance Assessment section of the lefthand navigation menu in the Creator and click “Create Performance Assessment.” In the resulting popup window, give your performance assessment a title and optional author and description, then click “Create.” To change the title, author, or description at any time, click on the 3 vertical dots near the top right of the screen, click “Edit details,” make your desired edits, and click “Save changes & close.”

Checklists

Creating & Removing Checklists

Performance assessments are built using checklists of specific steps. Each performance assessment may have up to 40 checklists, and each checklist may have up to 40 steps. To create a checklist, click “+ New Checklist” and provide a checklist title in the available text-editor box.

To delete a checklist, click the 3 vertical dots to the right of the checklist title and select “Delete Checklist.”

Reordering Checklists

To reorder your checklists, use the number dropdown under “Position” left of the checklist title and select the numbered order desired.

Steps

Creating & Removing Steps

Each checklist can have up to 40 steps. To create a step, navigate to the checklist you wish to add steps to and click the “+” sign on the left. After creating the step, add the step details (e.g., “Remove tourniquet from the casualty’s JFAK and/or carrying pouch.”). If a step is critical to passing the assessment, you can mark it critical by clicking the “Critical (C)” box to the right of the step details.

To delete a step, click the 3 vertical dots right of the step details and select “Delete Checklist Step.”

Creating & Removing Substeps

Each step can have a set of substeps as well. To add substeps to a step, click the 3 vertical dots to the right of the Critical box and select “Enable Substeps for this Step.” This will nest another set of steps under the original step where you can add up to 40 more substeps.

To remove substeps, simply click the 3 vertical dots next to the substep you wish to remove and click “Delete Checklist Step.” To hide substeps on a particular step, you must first delete all substeps, then click the 3 vertical dots to the right of the original step, and select “Hide Substeps for this Step.”

Reordering Steps

To reorder your steps within your checklist, click and hold the 6 dots left of the step details and drag to the desired spot.

Publishing a Performance Assessment

When you have completed your performance assessment, you can publish it by clicking the “Publish” button near the top right.
